EAST CLEVELAND SCARECROW FESTIVAL
Easington
24th August

The Scarecrow Festival in Easington always starts on the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday Monday with entertainment, a grand raffle and refreshments in the village hall, next to the church. A village trail marks the position of scarecrows, which stay up for the whole week, produced by the residents and displayed all over the village in gardens and communal areas. From the launch Easington’s scarecrows have always followed a theme, the first was ‘The Saxon Princess’, after the famous discovery only 1 mile away. The second was ‘The Sea’ and the third ‘Sci-Fi’, this year the village are aiming to stage ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ with a circus theme.
