Guisborough
3rd to 10th August
3rd to 10th August
Following the success of last year’s Scarecrow Festival in Guisborough, we’re inviting you to join this year’s festival, which we hope will be even more fun.
It’s a Guisborough wide community event with the aim of bringing people together in creating scarecrows, generating smiles, encouraging visitors to come to Guisborough to enjoy the Festival, and supporting the Guisborough Craft & Produce Show on 10 August at Sunnyfield House.
A few things to bear in mind are:
Scarecrows located in public places need permission from Redcar & Cleveland Council, so you might prefer to locate them in/on your own property. If they are outside, they need to be firmly fixed to something (eg a bench) and must not present a trip hazard. To minimise this risk and avoid potential vandalism they need to be taken indoors overnight. All scarecrows on private property are the responsibility of the property owner and we would suggest are also taken in overnight.
All residents, schools, businesses, churches, services, the council, voluntary organisations and everyone else are invited to join us in creating Scarecrow fun days out for all the family, friends and community. There’ll be a Trail Quiz with a tie breaker for under 11s, under 16 and adult categories, to encourage visitors to see as many Scarecrows and as much of Guisborough as possible. Please register if you’re going to make a scarecrow, so you can be kept informed and added to the Trail.
At the end of the Festival, remember to visit the Guisborough Craft & Produce Show, on 10 August.
