Lazenby
10th to 24th August
10th to 24th August
Lazenby is taking part in the East Cleveland Scarecrow Festival for a number of reasons. Hopefully it will be fun for those taking part and for visitors. We are also hoping that as many residents and organisations within the village will make scarecrows and exhibit them in their gardens or in the Village Hall grounds. Wilton Primary School have made 3 scarecrows, these are in the Village Hall awaiting the big day. The children have made bunting to decorate the hall and were very excited about the event when the whole school visited the hall. The idea is to engender a community spirit in the village bringing together everyone in the village including long term residents and newcomers alike. We want to encourage people to visit the village while the festival is running, to see that we are not somewhere to bypass on the A174, that the village and it's hall are worth detouring to visit.
The event will run for two weeks 10 - 24 August. The Village Hall will be open for refreshments and crafts on each Saturday between 11.30 and 2 pm.
The Scarecrows will be judged on the morning on the 17th and a children's scarecrow fancy dress competition about 1pm the same day for under 15 years of age.
